Dear colleagues,
We are conducting an international survey to help better understand the perception of healthcare providers regarding venous thromboembolism and bleeding from pharmacologic thromboprophylaxis in the pediatric population. The aims of this survey are: (1) to determine the perceived relative clinical significance of venous thromboembolism and bleeding from pharmacologic thromboprophylaxis, and (2) to identify factors that modify this perceived relative clinical significance.
The survey contains 4 cases (symptomatic DVT, asymptomatic DVT, pulmonary embolism with hemodynamic compromise and pulmonary embolism without hemodynamic compromise) with 2 sets of questions per case. In each case, the perceived risks of venous thromboembolism and bleeding from pharmacologic thromboprophylaxis will be described. We request that you provide the likelihood that you will provide pharmacologic thromboprophylaxis based on these risks if confronted clinically with such a case. Before the cases, we will make a request for your demographic information.
You have been chosen to complete the survey because you are involved in the decision making of patients receiving pharmacologic thromboprophylaxis. The survey should take approximately 10-15 mins to complete. Your participation in this survey is completely voluntary and you may choose to not participate. All information will be kept confidential and your responses are anonymous. We will not be collecting any identifiable data to minimize breach of confidentiality. There is no direct benefit and no cost for your participation. By submitting a response, you consent to participate in this study.
