    Dr. Elizabeth Van Cott

    September 2, 1964 – April 13, 2021

    Dr. Van Cott (Betsy) received MD from Harvard Medical School. She completed residency training in Clinical Pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. Then, she became Medical Director of Coagulation Lab at MGH. She became Co-Chair of subcommittee of Plasma Coagulation Inhibitors (PCI) from 2020.

    Betsy was a world-renowned coagulation expert. Her clinical and academic impacts were broad and deep. She served multiple societies in coagulation. She was a president of NASCOLA (North American Specialized Coagulation Laboratory Association). She was an editor/associate editor of several journals. She published many academic articles and chapters and contributed to creating many guidelines. Betsy loved her work, especially her training of her residents and collaborations with her colleagues. This was recognized when she recently received the prestigious William Silen Lifetime Achievement Excellence in Mentoring Award from Harvard Medical School.  

    Betsy passed away peacefully on April 13, 2021, at her home. Betsy is missed by so many people who knew her personally and professionally including PCI subcommittee.
