Dear colleagues, We are conducting an international survey to help better understand the perception of healthcare providers regarding venous thromboembolism and bleeding from pharmacologic thromboprophylaxis in the pediatric population. The aims of this survey are: (1) to determine the perceived relative clinical significance of venous thromboembolism and bleeding from pharmacologic thromboprophylaxis, and (2) to identify factors that modify this perceived relative clinical significance. The survey contains 4 cases (symptomatic DVT, asymptomatic DVT, pulmonary embolism with hemodynamic compromise and pulmonary embolism without hemodynamic compromise) with 2 sets of questions per case. In each case, the perceived risks of venous thromboembolism and bleeding from pharmacologic thromboprophylaxis will be described. We request that you provide the likelihood that you will provide pharmacologic thromboprophylaxis based on these risks if confronted clinically with such a case. Before the cases, we will make a request for your demographic information. You have been chosen to complete the survey because you are involved in the decision making of patients receiving pharmacologic thromboprophylaxis. The survey should take approximately 10-15 mins to complete. Your participation in this survey is completely voluntary and you may choose to not participate. All information will be kept confidential and your responses are anonymous. We will not be collecting any identifiable data to minimize breach of confidentiality. There is no direct benefit and no cost for your participation. By submitting a response, you consent to participate in this study. This survey was reviewed and given exempt status by the IRB at University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria. You may contact Robert Huibonhoa, MD at huibonhr@uic.edu with questions or comments. Thank you very much for your time. We truly appreciate your involvement with this project. Dear ISTH pediatric subcommittee members, On behalf of the Subcommittee on Pediatric and Neonatal Thrombosis and Hemostasis Task Force on Cross-Network Data Harmonization and Data Sharing in Pediatric Thrombosis Research, we invite you to take this very brief survey. The goal of this Task Force: To identify all Pediatric Thrombosis Networks worldwide in order to harmonize data elements, definitions, and quality standards between network databases. The goal of this survey: To create a comprehensive list of pediatric thrombosis networks to display on the ISTH website.
Thank you!
The Guidelines and Guidance (G&G) Committee requires a process for guidance manuscripts to go through a public comment period before approval to submit the manuscript to the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (JTH). The G&G Committee would like to announce that the guidance manuscript titled, "Delphi consensus guidance recommendations for neuraxial anesthesia in adults with platelet disorders and coagulation defects: Guidance from the ISTH SSC Subcommittee on von Willebrand factor," is now open for public comment. Note: This manuscript is confidential and in draft form.
