 View Only

This subcommittee is focused on promoting knowledge translation and facilitating collaborative research relating to the diagnostic and predictive utility of clinical and biochemical markers of cardiovascular disease and thrombosis.

If you are interested in the subcommittee and want to follow its activity, please click "join group" above to sign up as a member (follower).

Mandate

  • To promote education and research relating to determinants, both clinical and biochemical, of venous and arterial thromboembolic disease.
  • To enhance patient care by determining the diagnostic and prognostic importance of clinical and biochemical predictors of cardiovascular disease.
  • To promote collaborations among clinical investigators and, where feasible, to pool patient databases so as to enable more reliable and precise assessments of the clinical utility of established and emerging markers of cardiovascular disease.

    Role

The following are the ongoing activities and responsibilities of the Subcommittee:

    • To develop an education program for the Annual SSC Meeting that will provide clinicians with a practical application of recent developments relating to determinants/prediction rules relating to cardiovascular disease that will guide diagnosis, management and prognostic assessment.
    • To provide a forum for clinical investigators to update findings from completed studies and to solicit support for ongoing or planned studies.
    • To provide a vehicle for members of the ISTH, especially young members and aspiring clinical investigators, to engage in clinical research, partake in collaborative activities and develop contacts in this field.

          • The VTE-COS Delphi Survey is now live!

            Your opinion matters:
Which treatment outcomes do you think are most important to measure in every blood clot (VTE) treatment study?
The International VTE-COS Research Team invites people with lived or professional experience with VTE
to participate in an online survey. Participation is voluntary and the survey should take 10-20 minutes to
finish. The purpose of the study is to identify the most important outcomes of treatments for VTE. In other words, we would like to know how you might decide if a treatment for VTE is an excellent one. This research is led by an international partnership of researchers and patients. It is being done in collaboration with The International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) and national research groups.
