Mandate
- To promote education and research relating to determinants, both clinical and biochemical, of venous and arterial thromboembolic disease.
- To enhance patient care by determining the diagnostic and prognostic importance of clinical and biochemical predictors of cardiovascular disease.
- To promote collaborations among clinical investigators and, where feasible, to pool patient databases so as to enable more reliable and precise assessments of the clinical utility of established and emerging markers of cardiovascular disease.
Role
The following are the ongoing activities and responsibilities of the Subcommittee:
- To develop an education program for the Annual SSC Meeting that will provide clinicians with a practical application of recent developments relating to determinants/prediction rules relating to cardiovascular disease that will guide diagnosis, management and prognostic assessment.
- To provide a forum for clinical investigators to update findings from completed studies and to solicit support for ongoing or planned studies.
- To provide a vehicle for members of the ISTH, especially young members and aspiring clinical investigators, to engage in clinical research, partake in collaborative activities and develop contacts in this field.
