This Subcommittee is focused on basic and translational research related to vascular biology and related (athero)-thrombotic disorders, through the development of biomarkers that require standardization. These topics are: 1) Neutrophil-extracellular traps ; 2) Circulating endothelial progenitor and cells (EPC and CEC ); and 3) Extracellular vesicles. This SSC incorporates hematologists, laboratory scientists, clinicians and industry scientists, and is a forum of exchanges at the interface with other sub-committees (including Malignancy and Hemostasis, DIC, and Platelet Physiology) and with other Societies (such as ISAC and ISEV).

Mandate
- To delineate consensual definition and nomenclature
- To propose new methods of measurement
- To adresse issues of practical importance related to pre-analytic variables
- To establish standardized methodologies
- To develop laboratory calibrants and standards
- To organize collaborative studies to validate these objectives and to delineate the clinical relevance of these biomarkers
- To identify areas of controversy or technological need and discuss methodologic approaches to address questions raised.
- To generate, publish and distribute reports, recommendations and other documents concerning the above.
